
Thomas
K. Huisman, M.D.
Dr.
Huisman received his undergraduate degree from the
United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
He graduated with honors from Georgetown University
Medical School in Washington, D.C. He completed
his internship and residency at the Naval Medical
Center, San Diego, California.
Dr.
Huisman joined the practice in 1997, after serving
as the Chairman of the Urology Department at Naval
Medical Center San Diego. He has extensive training
in prostate surgery, endourology and management
and treatment of stone disease, as well as the treatment
of prostate cancer with minimally invasive surgery,
brachytherapy and cryosurgery. He pioneered the
techniques of Radical Perineal Prostatectomy and
Brachytherapy at Southern Maryland Hospital Center.
Dr.
Huisman has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor
of Urology at The Chicago Medical School, Uniformed
Services University of the Health Sciences, and
University of California at San Diego Medical School.
He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical
Society and was elected to the American College
of Surgeons in 1990.
